Background: Directed by Annette Philip, the Berklee Indian Ensemble is a world-renowned music ensemble performing works ranging from classical Indian music, rooted in traditions from north indian classical to carnatic, all the way to contemporary and bollywood music. Aseem has served as a tenor and soloist on many occasions for the choir in the period from fall of 2012.
One of the biggest shows performed by the ensemble to date was in front of a sold out Boston Symphony Hall paying tribute to the music of A. R. Rahman.

Background: A.R.Rahman is one of the most influential composers around today. Among his awards are two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards (South). Rahman’s body of work for film and stage has given him the nickname of “the Mozart of Madras”. In the fall of 2014, A.R.Rahman was granted an honorary degree by the Berklee College of Music, and the Berklee Indian Ensemble performed a two hour concert paying tribute to the legendary composer, who also joined them on stage for a couple of songs.

The concert was a 2 hour spectacle arranging some of Rahman’s greatest works.
